Review Topic: Adjustment of Status

I had to go to the field office in Denver for the interview of my AOS application (IR-1). I filled my application on September 23rd, 2022 and I finally had my interview on July 31st, 2023. I brought every single document I could think of, including an exact copy of every document submitted, the originals and additional evidence that I collected while waiting for the interview. It turns out it was the way to go.

After we arrived, we were called in almost immediately by the officer. She was nice and friendly and not intimidating at all, although it was clear she was doing her job at verifying all the information provided and that the relationship was real. Again, they are just doing their job, not trying to be your friend. We were not worried since our relationship was legit, so it felt more like a conversation than anything else. She asked about our live together, future plans and some clarification on a few things that we submitted. For example, she was curious why our joint account had so little money in it, but after explaining that we just opened shortly after marrying and providing updated bank statements she understood the situation. She mostly cared about the new evidence that we had collected while waiting and hadn't submitted yet. She scanned everything new (even pictures) and updated a few things on the forms.

At the time of our interview, USCIS was having some sort of IT issue with the applications, but the officer was pretty transparent on what they were trying to do to solve it and how that could impact our timeline. In short, it seemed like the I-130 petition was separated from the rest and had to be reviewed in paper and approved after creating an IT ticket. She told us that the approval could be delayed a few months, but it turns out they manage to approve it the next day!

Overall, a great experience, nice service and good transparency.

Review Topic: Naturalization

Excellent experience at the Denver Field Office. Upon arriving for the naturalization interview, security guards were pleasant and patient. The check-in process went smoothly afterwards. After going upstairs to wait for the Immigration officer (IO), they called within 10 minutes. Interview started with IO verifying current address, phone numbers etc. to match with database. Proceeded to ask 6 questions (name a war during the 1800s, which party does the current president belong to, name 2 US national holidays etc.). Upon answering correctly, dictated a sentence to be written on tablet. Finally narrated the oath of allegiance and provided the naturalization certificate. The whole process took about 20 minutes.

Review Topic: Adjustment of Status

The interview was for my husband who was the one adjusting his status.
Our Appointment was at 7:30, arrived at 7:20, checked in. We were the the first ones to be called in.
The immigration officer was friendly but semi strict during the interview itself. We had a friend translate over the phone as they currently do not allow in person translators due to covid. The officer literally asked questions from the I-485 Adjustment of Status packet that we sent in. These are all the questions that were asked that I could remember:

1. What is your Full name

2. What is your Address

3. What is your Date of birth

4. When did you come to US? (for my husband)

5. How long have you lived in your current residence?

6. Have you worked without authorization in the US?

7. Did you help anyone illegally come to the US?

8. Did you deal drugs?

9. What are your husbands parents names? (This was asked to me)

10. Have you met your husbands parents?

11. Do you have any kids?

12. What are their names?

13. When is your daughters birthday?

14. When did you get married?

15. How did you meet?

16. Where did you live when you came to America?

17. Where do you work now (name of job)?

18. Are you part or any club or organization?

19. Have you been deported from US?

20. Have you been in army or know how to use firearms?

21. Show me evidence of your marriage

(We gave her our daughters birth certificate, bank statements that we share a joint account, car insurance, letter of affidavit of residence that we currently live with our parents, and that’s it .. that is literally all the officer took, didn’t even need or look at anything else)

Then she said that everything on our application looks good and that my husband should receive his green card in a couple of weeks, and asked if we had any questions and thats it!

Overall straightforward interview.

Interview was as expected. The facility was run well organized well to decrease risk of Covid, officers were polite, efficient, questions short sweet to the point asking about identification of each other, how we met, entries and exits into the country. Received a notification later that morning that new card was in process

Review Topic: Adjustment of Status

Had our CR-1 application interview earlier this month, in the morning. It was smooth sailing.

We arrived earlier than our notice told us to, which you should definitely do. There can be a line outside the building for security. If there is one, hop in line even if you’re like an hour early.

Once inside we were met with professional, organized, and friendly staff. Our names were called shortly after we checked in and our officer asked basic questions about us, our relationship, asked for clarification on some ambiguity in the paperwork, etc. She was respectful and polite. Approved on the spot after about 10 minutes.
